| The area is well known for its unique landscape: Around the town the volcanic landscape of Nijar,
the natural reserve of Cabo de Gata-Nijar (wild Agaves), the Alpujarras (almond and apricot orchards, wine, and pomegranates), the Sierra Nevada (snow covered heights with coniferous forests), and the desert landscape of Tabernas. Rock dwellings of Guadix. |
| Hiking trips along the coast line are well marked. The Botanical Garden at Rodalquilar (endemic and/or local plant species of the region) is worthwhile a visit. |
